Percorrendo la campagna ragusana capita spesso di incontrare delle case nobiliari insieme a case povere (masserie) dove un tempo vivevano nelle ville, i proprietari terrieri, nelle masserie i contadini con le loro famiglie che lavoravano la terra e allevavano animali. Mangiavano quello che coltivavano e una parte del raccolto andava al proprietario. Oggi, purtroppo, molti hanno lasciato la campagna e abbandonato le masserie. Le ville, quelle ristrutturate, sono diventati eleganti ristoranti…o raffinati B&B……………….
