Le Château de Chenonceau è il castello più visitato e fotografato della Valle della Loira. E' spesso descritto come il "Castello delle donne" perchè nel corso della sua storia sono loro che hanno maggiormente influenzato il suo design e il suo destino. Thomas Bohier nel 1512 acquisì quella che era una piccola fortezza sul fiume Cher e decise di sostituirla con un castello stile "Rinascimento" lasciando solo la fortezza dall'edificio originale.
