I hear what you are saying. Yes, it would have been nice not to have shadows on parts of the bird. However, the shot was taken in the late afternoon of a fall day When shadows are inevitable at certain angles. How would you have made this shot to avoid the dark areas and still achieve a reasonably balanced exposure overall? If you know a better way, I am open.
