Entrando, possiamo percepire l'atmosfera medioevale originaria grazie all'abate Marcello Morelli che, nel 1926, ha rimosso gli stucchi settecenteschi dalla sobria pietra calcarea in cui sono realizzati gli interni, riportando l'ambiente alla iniziale semplicità ed eleganza: la pianta è a croce latina e le tre navate sono scandite da pilastri quadrilobati con semi colonne addossate ed hanno ognuno uno splendido capitello figurato con motivi antropomorfi, zoomorfi e vegetali diverso dagli altri con valenza fortemente simbolica e rappresentativa dello spirito e della religiosità medioevale e sorreggono grandi arcate trasversali che formano grandi volte a crociera.
