La corona solare è l'atmosfera del Sole ed è possibile osservarla da Terra solo durante una Eclisse Totale di Sole, come nella "Great American Eclipse" del 21 agosto 2017. In questa elaborazione HDR sono visibili i filamenti prodotti da fortissimi campi magnetici uscenti dalla superficie del Sole. E' visibile anche la Luna, illuminata debolmente dalla Terra. Le parti rosse sono le protuberanze, presenti in questa eclisse soprallutto sul lato ovest. Immagine ottenuta compositando circa 100 scatti ottenuti con due setup quasi identici: ottica Pentax 75 (focale 500mm f/6.7), Canon 760D e 60D, montature equatoriali Vixen GP e Kenko NES, tempi di posa da 1/125s a 1s a 200 ISO, più 1s a 400ISO. Calibrazione con dark, flat, darkflat. Località Glendo, Wyoming, USA. Autori: Emmanuele Sordini e Lorenzo Comolli
