Isole dei Ciclopi: Le isole dei Ciclopi si trovano a largo delle coste catanesi, nel comune di Acicastello e in quello di Acireale. Su questi territori, da tempo è stata istituita la riserva marina protetta. Le isole Ciclopi sono servite da scenario nel capolavoro letterario di Giovanni Verga, I Malavoglia; sono state, inoltre, set cinematografico del film La terra trema di Luchino Visconti. Inoltre nell'Odissea di Omero si narra che Il nome dell'arcipelago deriva dalla leggenda secondo la quale i faraglioni e gli altri scogli siti di fronte ad Aci Trezza siano le pietre scagliate dal ciclope Polifemo contro Ulisse in fuga.
