Una bella foto di un esemplare altrettanto bello e dalla livrea che li distingue molto particolare. Un maschio in età riproduttiva.
In Australia occidentale sono conosciuti con il nome Splendid Fairy-wren (al quale spesso aggiungono "blu") per il colore che assumono una volta adulti. Il periodo migliore per incontrarli numerosi è sicuramente quello "degli amori", che precede di poco la primavera (Settembre - Novembre) nel quale perdono totalmente ogni timore della presenza umana, ma rimangono frenetici e veloci nei loro movimenti, di solito vivono nelle immediate vicinanze con altre coppie ed é molto bello assistere ai primi voli dei loro piccoli (in piena primavera) nascono più o meno contemporaneamente tre o quattro piccoli per coppia, all'inizio sono indistinguibili tra maschi e femmine, solo più avanti si potrà distinguere una leggera cintura grigia più scura attorno al collo sul petto che caratterizza gli esemplari maschi che da adulti diventerà totalmente nera. In quel periodo, per quanto meno colorati, i piccoli sono simpaticissimi, si rincorrono per tutto il giorno a piccoli gruppi, incuranti della presenza umana, sono vivacissimi e divertentissimi. |
