il lago è il maggiore bacino artificiale del Trentino. La capienza dell,invaso è di 182 milioni di metri cubi. La diga venne inagurata nel 1951 e al tempo era la piu alta d,Europa. Quando il livello delle acque viene abbassato riemergono due antichi ponti,il piu alto è un ponte ottocentesco sulla strada dei Regai. L,altro piu in basso il ponte mediovale detto Della Mula
