Al termine della navata centrale si trova il cosiddetto arco di Galla Placidia, erroneamente attribuito alla nobildonna per l'iscrizione posta sull'orlo dell'arcata: è impostato su due colonne di granito di Montòrfano con capitelli ionici, vicino alla base si trovano altre due colonne dedicate a san Pietro e san Paolo, rispettivamente dello Jacometti e del Revelli. I mosaici, molto restaurati, raffigurano il Salvatore benedicente fra due angeli adoranti, i simboli dei quattro Evangelisti, i 24 Seniori dell'Apocalisse, i santi Pietro e Paolo nei mistilinei.
