Il Falco giocoliere (Terathopius ecaudatus) è un'aquila di medie dimensioni appartenente alla famiglia delle Accipitridae. È l'unico membro del genere Terathopius.
Il suo nome in Francese (Bateleur, ripreso anche dall'Inglese) descrive la sua caratteristica abitudine di battere le estremità delle ali mentre vola, come per cercare il bilanciamento.
Si tratta di una specie dalla coda estremamente corta (ecaudatus in latino significa senza coda) che lo rende inconfondibile in volo.

The Falco juggler (Terathopius ecaudatus) is an eagle medium sized belonging to the family Accipitridae. It is the only member of the genus Terathopius.
Its name in French (Bateleur, also taken from English) describes the characteristic habit of beating the ends of the wings while flying, how to find the balance.
This is an extremely short-tailed species (ecaudatus in Latin means no tail) that makes it unmistakable in flight.

Gli uccelli una volta involati non si accrescono più. Anzi, generalmente c'è un fisiologico calo di dimensioni con la maturità sessuale. Quindi non aspettatevi falchi giocolieri di dimensioni maggiori...
