Il fiore più umile, più semplice, quasi più banale che possiamo trovare nei nostri prati, da quelli del nostro giardino sino alle praterie alpine, è la Margherita. Eppure, osservata nei suoi particolari, è un fiore splendido. Quella qui ripresa è una Margherita diploide, il cui nome scientifico è Leucanthemum Vulgare Lam. Appartiene alla famiglia delle Asteraceae. Il nome generico (Leucanthemum) deriva da due parole greche leukos (= bianco) e anthemon (= fiore) per il colore dei fiori ligulati simili a petali. Curiosità: Non è appetibile come foraggio perchè in parte legnosa, non viene brucata e quindi ritenuta dannosa per la composizione del pascolo. Dal punto di vista storico l'uso di questo fiore è molto antico, si hanno testimonianze nei vasi egizi (4000 a a.c.) decorati con le margherite. Una usanza popolare, di origine celtica, e ancora in uso, la gente cerca di determinare, mediante l'uso dei suoi petali strappati uno a uno, il vaticinio per sapere se un certa cosa personale avrebbe avuto un andamento positivo o negativo. Anche Johann Wolfgang von Goethe nel "Faust" fa fare la stessa esperienza a Margherita; anche lei per capire l'intenzione dell'uomo amato (Faust) strappa i petali usando la sequenza "m'ama, non m'ama". La margherita nel linguaggio dei fiori significa purezza, fedeltà e bontà d'animo. Scatto effettuato a Santa Caterina Valfurva nel mese di Luglio del 2016.
