Quest'anno con amici e mia sorella, ho festeggiato Capodanno a Colonia. Mi sono fermata alcuni giorni e sono rimasta affascinata dalla bellezza di questa città che è la più grande della regione di Nordrhein-Westfalen, situata sul Reno. Colonia era già abitata dai romani ("Colonia Agrippiniensium") che hanno lasciato dei monumenti importanti nella città. Oggi è uno dei centri industriali più importanti della Germania occidentale. È stata gravemente distrutta durante l'ultima guerra. Colonia ha una famosa e antica università fondata nel XIV secolo, oggi è una delle più grandi della Germania. Durante la dominazione romana, Colonia fu circondata da una alta cinta muraria, che potesse risultare efficace nel difendere la città dagli attacchi esterni. Le mura furono grandemente ampliate tra il X e il XIII secolo, ed è a quel periodo che si ascrive la costruzione della Hahnentorburg. Eretta probabilmente tra il 1235 e il 1240, la più monumentale delle dodici torri che segnavano l'accesso alla città vecchia, è divenuta nel tempo uno dei simboli cittadini, ed è stata risparmiata dalle demolizioni di fine XIX secolo. La città è dominata dal duomo, una imponente costruzione gotica che da sola basterebbe già a rendere Colonia una meta turistica di prim'ordine .Al suo interno, in un sarcofago d'oro sono custodite le reliquie dei Re Magi.Queste erano custodite nella "Cappella dei Re Magi" nella Chiesa di sant'Eustorgio a Milano ed il Barbarossa le fece trasferire a Colonia ne 1164. Solo agli inizi del XX secolo Milano riuscì ad ottenere una parte di quello che le era stato tolto: il 3 gennaio del 1904, infatti, il cardinal Ferrari, Arcivescovo di Milano, fece solennemente ricollocare alcuni frammenti ossei delle spoglie dei Re Magi (due fibule, una tibia e una vertebra), offerti dall'Arcivescovo di Colonia Fischer, in Sant'Eustorgio. Furono posti in un'urna di bronzo accanto all'antico sacello vuoto con la scritta Sepulcrum Trium Magorum (tomba dei tre Magi). Proprio accanto al duomo: il Museo romano-germanico che dà un'idea della vita quotidiana di 2000 anni fa e il Ludwig, uno dei più importanti musei di arte moderna e contemporanea. Ma a Colonia ci sono molti altri importanti musei e circa 120 gallerie d'arte. La gente di Colonia è nota per l'allegria e il loro carnevale, insieme a quello della vicina Düsseldorf e quello di Mainz (Magonza), attira ogni anno più di un milione di visitatori da tutta la Germania. Durante una passeggiata nel centro bisogna anche assaggiare la birra tipica della città, il "Kölsch". Partendo da Colonia, ci sono molte possibilità di fare gite in battello sul Reno. A me è piaciuta moltissimo, ho fotografato di tutto e di più, la città merita, e mi propongo di tornarci. Critiche e commenti sempre super graditi. Grazie.
