Unica in tutta Italia è la Piazza del Municipio nel centro storico alto di Terracina. Il suo aspetto attuale è il risultato di più di duemila anni di storia dell'architettura. Sorge nell'area del Foro Emiliano, centro civile e religioso della città alta tardo-repubblicana. Opere artigiane piene di sostanza e capolavori degni di rispetto sono riuniti qui in uno spazio ristretto. Come molte altre città in Europa Terracina ha vissuto violente trasformazioni. La particolarità di questo luogo è che qui sono vivibili con immediatezza. Casetorri medievali alte e snelle, case borghesi edificate una vicina all'altra e palazzi tardo barocchi dominano l'aspetto della piazza di oggi. Edifici eccellenti come la cattedrale, l'ex palazzo vescovile, la Torre dei Rosa e il Municipio, che dà il suo nome alla piazza, fanno di questa il centro della vita pubblica.
