Panoramica sul gruppo dell'Adamello teatro di scontri violentissimi sui suoi ghiacciai fra le truppe austrungariche e italiane durante la Grande Guerra 1914-18. Al centro si intravede la vetta del Carè Alto. Per Guerra Bianca si intende generalmente la serie di scontri, inseriti nello scenario globale della Prima Guerra Mondiale, che avvennero sul fronte italiano a quote montane molto elevate e in condizioni fisiche, ambientali e meteorologiche fino ad allora ritenute impossibili e inavvicinabili per l'uomo e chiaramente per i soldati. Molto presto infatti, oltre al tradizionale nemico aggrappato alle estremità opposte di questa insolita terra di nessuno, si aggiunse un terzo, pressoché invincibile “contendente”: la morte bianca, vale a dire il costante pericolo di assideramento e, in generale, di dipartita violenta e brutale, dettata dalle impervie condizioni di vita imposte ai combattenti in alta quota
