I cannot give you exact co-ordinates but anywhere on the headland south of and around the RNLI station, which is marked on the Google map. IF you're actually there, you naturally walk around to find the best view anyway. I may have walked down onto the rocks for that shot, I cannot remember. The Swanage Pier in the Rain shot much more recently was taken from in front of the RNLI station too. Good luck! |

Rather RNLI Lifeboat station which IS marked on the map, I was referring to the lookout station which is right on the end of Peverill Point, (and is not on the map) further on from the lifeboat station. Hope this clarifies. But as I said, if you're actually there, you will naturally walk about and find the views that interest you. |

Oh yes, it's steep and you need good footwear. I've only been to Swanage by bus, to the town centre, which is about 1km from Peverill Point. I wouldn't know about parking a car, or where. By far your best is to look out for, ask for, or is on the maps (including Google) is to follow the South West Coastal Path, (S W Coast Path on Google) which takes you as near to the coastline that is safely possible. It's the start of a huge long distance walk that takes you right across Dorset, to Devon - and beyond. It's well maintained and well signposted but in our British weather, can still be wet, steep and difficult and of course, the winds blow right across. But on a warm sunny summer's day it can be like heaven. I took the photos a few metres from the Coastal Path and you need to be looking back north east inland to get this view and a longish lens as it's across the Bay and the pinnacles of chalk are about 10-12km away. August is not a good time to visit this part of England as it gets very busy and gets very popular, but visitors such as yourself usually don't get the choice as to when they can take their holidays, after all! Last week I walked from Ullwell (near Swanage) to Corfe Castle, all along the ridge, beautiful day, incredible views. I haven't as yet been able to post any up on Juza but I can certainly recommend it, for the walk itself as well for photos. |
