L'antica Pieve di Santo Stefano sorge nel luogo dove c'era un tempio pagano che, molto probabilmente, fu trasformato in luogo di culto cristiano, già nell'VIII secolo si ha certezza dell'esistenza di una chiesa dedicata a S.Stefano nella quale vennero poste le spoglie degli eremiti Benigno e Caro. La chiesa presenta una sola navata, il soffitto a volta con un medaglione raffigurante la gloria di S.Stefano del XVIII secolo, ha tre altari per lato, uno per ogni cappella e centralmente quello maggiore; sul primo altare di destra è posizionata una pala raffigurante la "deposizione di Cristo" che subì nel tempo varie vicissitudini scampando alle razzie delle milizie napoleoniche.
