I was thinking that I'd be interested in this location but looking at the English Heritage site, it's quite inaccessible to me, right now and I'd rather concentrate on the ones I can get to.
I have now found a bus that goes from Gillingham to Blandford and so Fontmell (which is one of your favourites?) could be possible, but at the end of the day, it's simply not worth getting stranded over (like anywhere else, of course), so I'd need plenty of time as the busses are few and start late and end early. |

When I was photographing this (and when I was processing the image) I very much thought of it as your kind of material! It is what it is though - basically what you can see here - so it would need to be part of a bigger excursion, I would have thought. I'd not actually been here before. I knew of it, but not really where it was, but stumbled across it whilst driving around the countryside looking for more poppy fields!
Oh, yes - Blandford would be good for Fontmell Down - there is plenty that I have yet to explore there I think!

I would get that bus to and from Gillingham, not Blandford, as the busses between B'ford and Salisbury were cut back in April. Our part of the world is full of these little gems and if you miss one, then another photo subject pops up almost immediately. |
