Sul lato meridionale della piazza il chiostro di Bressanone si chiude unendosi direttamente al Duomo di Bressanone. 20 frammenti di arcate che si congiungono fra loro, di cui 15 in pareti e volte interamente rivestite di affreschi. Gli affreschi dei soffitti risplendono fra le nervature diagonali. Attraverso le finestre arcuate penetra la luce esterna e il chiostro si illumina di colori. Il visitatore si ritrova immerso in una varietà di sfumature colorate, figure e visi. Nel XIV e XV secolo alcuni pittori della regione riuscirono a creare un ricco ciclo di raffigurazioni tratte da scene della Bibbia. Così facendo fu possibile rendere accessibile le Sacre Scritture anche a chi non sapeva leggere. Le rappresentazioni più antiche vennero realizzate dai maestri Hans, Erasmus e Cristoph di Brunico, della scuola della Val Pusteria. Nel 1446 il pittore Jakob von Seckau introdusse un nuovo linguaggio delle forme nella pittura: la rappresentazione fedele e dettagliata, le scene cariche di pathos e il forte accento sulla fisionomia raggiungessero un apice di drammaticità finora sconosciuto. Le arcate dalla 16 alla 20 non sono dipinte. Appartenevano all'area profana del chiostro ed erano riservate agli studenti della scuola del Duomo e ai commercianti ambulanti che qui curavano i loro affari. Su una pianta pressoché quadrata il corridoio incornicia un idilliaco cortile interno, ricco di verde. L'atmosfera contemplativa del luogo è ancora presente: un tempo infatti il giardino serviva da luogo di ritiro e meditazione dell'ordine religioso. Oggi invece è accessibile al pubblico.
