Il venditore di caldarroste è una figura legata ai miei anni di università: ricordo Cesco, si metteva all'angolo di Sant'Ambrogio in quel di Milano e aspettava che noi uscissimo dalla Cattolica. In breve si formava un gruppetto chiassoso e ciarliero. Cartocci pieni di caldarroste riscaldavano per qualche momento i nostri gelidi e nebbiosi inverni milanesi. Erano gli anni di piombo, e, spesso dalla vicina caserma arrivava davanti al banchetto di Cesco anche qualche carabiniere.Non di rado nella piazza si fermava la macchina del generale Dalla Chiesa che dalla caserma Pastrengo veniva alla Garibaldi: una figura imponente che incuteva rispetto. Ma per noi universitari era diventato una figura familiare e, qualche volta, si fermava a chiacchierare con noi. Lo ricordo ancora nella sua impeccabile divisa in mezzo a noi ragazzi...a settembre del 1982, ormai trentenne, nel salone della redazione dove lavoravo, seppi della sua terribile fine...e mentre le lacrime mi rigavano il viso, risentivo il sapore delle caldarroste di quegli anni ormai lontani.
