at 10mm, 1/8 f/5.0, ISO 1600, hand held. Salisbury, United Kingdom.

I'm hoping that the bigger pixel count and better high iso capabilities of my new D7100 over the older technology D7000 that it replaces will be of particular use in situations like this, handholding in very dark interiors, with large differences between light and shadow. These very dark (they look much darker than they do in my photo) medieval carved oak choir stalls just soak up light, so hand-holding whilst trying for some depth of field (despite the ultrawide 10mm) is always a juggle. NEF (RAW) files from the D7100 cannot be read, or even opened by my Photoshop CS5 and I've no money left to upgrade to CS6, so needs must and I spent a whole afternoon downloading DNG Converters and stuff, but still failure. In the end, I downloaded the latest Nikon NX2 software and convert NEFS to huge (150mb!!) TIFFs and edit those... what a lot of hassle! #Cathedrals

Very well composed Tim and excellent exposure. You did excellent work with the d7000 Tim so I'm sure the extra versatility the d7100 offers will stand you in good stead.
