Il Santuario della Madonnina in Prato è ristrutturazione seicentesca di un edificio tardogotico, con raffinata facciata barocca (1678-86) tra le più interessanti del Varesotto: una serliana con telamoni, scenografico accesso al portichetto, fa da sostegno a un prospetto vivacemente chiaroscurato da elementi architettonici e statue. L'interno è affrescato con decorazioni illusionistiche che preparano la raffigurazione della cupola (Assunzione di Maria) di Antonio Busca (1666). Nella cappella sin. è degno di nota un affresco (Madonna in trono col Bambino) di gusto tardogotico (sec. xv), inquadrato da un'ancona seicentesca e da figure affrescate dal Busca. Nella cappella d., affreschi del 1619 probabilmente di G.B. Lampugnani. #Chiese
