La chiesa di San Filippo è uno dei capolavori del barocco genovese, insieme all'adiacente oratorio di San Filippo. La costruzione della chiesa e dell'oratorio ebbe inizio nella seconda meta' del 1600 per essere completato un secolo dopo. Gli interni sono decorati ad affresco, in un tardo-barocco genovese il cui linguaggio si esprime oltre che con l'affresco con gli intagli lignei e marmorei, un trionfo di stucchi dorati e dipinti.
