Judge's opinions can really make too much difference sometimes and if you agree with them, then someone else won't etc. But at the end of the day it is essential for up and comers to realise that their work might not be as great as they might think it is and that it's not just good technique and processing skills that are necessary, a good initial subject helps enormously too. It's also down to personal taste and bias.
Yes, I seem to recall from my dim and distant past in Clubs that only the top scorers get invited to go for print of the year. Considering you've only been in the club for a relatively short while, getting two prints in is extremely good going indeed - you should be very pleased with yourself. I do think that me nipping at your heels re technique has hardly done you any harm at all either. That's my excuse, anyway!! |

Thanks, Tim, but I have to admit that anyone in the club is able to submit two images that they have already had in previous competitions, regardless of how well they did. I will be interested to hear a different judge's opinion on mine, although I won't be holding my breath for a top score - there will be stiff competition!
