at 200mm, 1/800 f/10.0, ISO 320, hand held.

Taken this morning. Closest focus at 200mm, about 1/3rd life size - hardly 'macro' but useful extra feature with my f2.8 Sigma 70-200mm HSM Apo.

Thanks, Tim! I was thinking the 35 mm may be good. Last time round, I was disappointed with most of my very early shots as I couldn't step back far enough to get good focus with the lens I had then. I also had a lot less experience, so hopefully I'll do better this time!

Ann - you have prior experience that I definitely don't have, I'm going by what I think would be most useful. It also depends whether you're shooting indoors or out (this time of year, probably the former) and then the closer proximity and lower light then the 35mm definitely. Black and white could be good too, I reckon.

Indoor, for sure! Black and white might well be worth trying - I hadn't even given that a thought! I suspect they will all be informal shots - my family aren't ones for posing - can't say I am either! And, of course, this will be one of those times when I am happy to put my camera down and just enjoy the moment :)

Ann - It'll be hard to be creative and artistic with a bright pink baby, whereas black and white can really show the tenderness, vulnerability and softness etc etc. But always make the mono's from colour originals and keep both, the parents may only want the colour ones.
