Porta Palazzo (Pòrta Palass o Pòrta Pila in piemontese), è la zona a nord-ovest del centro storico di Torino, che delimita i quartieri Centro - zona del Quadrilatero Romano a sud, e Aurora zona Borgo Dora-Balon a nord. Il suo fulcro è l'ottagonale Piazza della Repubblica che, con i suoi 51 300 m², è la piazza più estesa della città, che ospita quotidianamente il mercato all'aperto più grande d'Europa. L'Antica Tettoia dell'Orologio eretta nel 1916 col nome di Padiglione IV rappresenta un tipico esempio di struttura metallica dell'epoca. Con la ristrutturazione del 1995-1998 fu rinominata con l'attuale dicitura. È il simbolo del grande mercato per eccellenza, e si trova nell'area nord-est, dedicata al solo commercio di prodotti alimentari, suddivisi in 88 punti vendita numerati. La frase "amare le differenze"è scritta con luci al neon colorate in 39 lingue del mondo,come messaggio di pace. Realizzata nel 2005 da Michelangelo Pistoletto (1933) come parte del progetto Luci d`Artista, l'opera è posta sulla facciata del mercato coperto di Piazza della Repubblica.
