Il Forte di Orino, situato sulla parte occidentale del Campo dei Fiori, era una postazione di artiglieria appartenente alla Linea Cadorna, costruita lungo il confine italo-svizzero durante la prima guerra mondiale, per contrastare un'eventuale invasione degli austro-ungarici attraverso la Svizzera. Fortunatamente non è mai servita ed oggi rimane come una splendida terrazza panoramica dalla quale si può ammirare una gran parte della catena delle Alpi, da sud a nord est, la regione dei laghi, la pianura sino agli Appennini. A ovest, svetta tra le cime il Monte Rosa qui ritratto insieme ad una visuale del Lago Maggiore.
