Yes Scotland is VERY nice, in all its facets. For potersela enjoy 100% would be perfect to go alone and without too many constraints of time and place (but how do you ?? ;-))
However, I have been there in the second half of August and I was VERY lucky with the weather (in the sense that I took only the classic and multiple showers, but always great light and never water throughout the day)
