Portsmouth Time Exposure sent on November 10, 2015 (8:06) by Timk2. 47 comments, 2184 views. [retina]

at 16mm, 20 sec f/11.0, ISO 100, tripod. Portsmouth, United Kingdom.

What you don't get here is any sense of just how rough the waves were yesterday - all smoothed out nicely here. I thought that the little Manfrotto FreeBe would get swept off to France! ND 10 + Grad Grey. Under 'Urban' as all the elements (apart from the water) are totally manmade. #LongExposures #Seascape

Love this, Tim! Strong lines of the pier contrast beautifully with the silky flow of the water!

I didn't want to give you ideas about doing long exposures, now, Ann! This final one was after half an hour's different positions, getting slightly damp from rogue spray and a feeling if slight unease! And quite a lot of editing after! And calling it a 'pier' is high praise indeed for a small concrete jetty!

Thank you so much Peppe!

Hmmm.... I'm pretty sure you did want to feed my interest in long exposures..... :))
A little spray will do you no harm - just as long as the camera is well protected!
And would you not call the structure in the background a pier?

No, it's a jetty. I'm glad that my photo makes it look like a pier!! The camera was nearer the water than I was...

You knew I had taken something like this, as I had told you but I was thinking you might miss seeing it, with the travelling you're doing right now. Not that I didn't want you to see it.... (of course).

Looks like Friday should be a good fine day and so have a few options planned.

Amd some strange spelling going on in your second line? Must be drive-lag!

avatarsupporter

Haha! Yes, I'll blame it on drive-lag! Great term!
Strange spelling in you final line, too - what shall we blame that on? :))

avatarsupporter

'You' final line? My final line looks fine to me, apart perhaps my new terminology... I think we should leave this one here, don't you?!
