Thank you Ann. I've tried doing this and redoing this each and every time I've been inside Winchester Cathedral - and my annual 'ticket' for it ends tomorrow. I was all set to return today but somehowI ended up in Portsmouth..... so I uploaded this from last November just before my train this morning, previously I didn't think it was good enough, but look at that shutter speed/iso/focal length combination - I seriously doubt if I could have got it much better however many times I tried.

And, thanks for the translation!

I can't imagine that you could hope for anything better is such a dark area - it's a very good image!

Although I understand that the upkeep of such places must be very expensive, it goes against the grain to have to pay to go into churches..... Do you have to pay to go into Salisbury cathedral? The way they have the entrance certainly makes it look as if you do!

Oh yes, you sure do have to pay to go into Salisbury Cathedral - each and every time. Winchester costs a bit more but you can go as many times as you like for 12 months. If you are a visitor, and taking photos, I do agree that you should donate something, like I did in Christchurch Priory (two pounds for a photo permit, plus all my 'shrapnel' loose change. But if it's your "local" and going in for peace and therapy, then no, or at least a local's 'discount'. But if you think these are expensive, just look at Westminster Abbey or St Paul's - well beyond my budget.

BTW - got some long exposures with the sea from Portsmouth to edit and post up tomorrow. Too tired now. Boy, was it windy down there along Southsea seafront!
