L'intera ala nord della Kongresshalle, il mastodontico edificio frutto di menti megalomani, costruito solo in parte, e che negli intenti dei suoi progettisti avrebbe dovuto superare il Colosseo quanto a stile e dimensioni, è allestita una mostra permanente dal titolo quanto mai eloquente: "Fascinazione e Terrore". Un'esposizione completa e coinvolgente, interattiva e multilingue, ripercorre nei tetri e freddi locali del sito simbolo di quella che fu la città più intimamente coinvolta nell'allucinazione nazista e nei suoi macabri e fanatici riti, la genesi, l'ascesa, il culto, il potere, l'orrore, la distruzione e l'oblio del partito nazionalsocialista tedesco. Se ne esce inevitabilmente provati, scossi, svuotati nell'anima e nella ragione, ma al contempo consapevoli di quanto rapido e breve possa essere il passo dall'ideale alla follia, di quanto terribile e potente possa essa divenire quanto incontra e si compenetra col male, di come entrambi, la Follia e il Male, possano facilmente ammaliare l'essere umano, singolo grumo di materia pensante o massa indistinta non pensante. L'ideologia nazista non considerava l'uomo, il singolo, la persona, l'emozione di un cuore; essa si nutriva di simboli, di razze, di catarsi collettive e con la stessa voracità con cui divorava le sue mostruosità ugualmente le vomitava sul mondo e sulla storia.
