Uno degli aspetti più importanti e scandalosi del degrado del nostro mare è quello che in gergo viene chiamato "Rigetto" o "bycatch" dove moltissime forme di vita marine vengono uccise ma poi rigettate in acqua perché magari le taglie non sono conformi, oppure il peschereccio non ha la licenza per portarle a terra o perché semplicemente certe specie non hanno mercato oppure sono vietate perché a rischio estinzione.Durante alcune immersioni fatte nelle vicinanze di reti da pesca ho quindi potuto notare come molte specie vengano gettate oppure ricadano in mare durante le operazioni di salpa delle reti e questo oltre ad essere uno spreco enorme ( un recente rapporto del WWF stima infatti che i rigetti siano il 40% del totale pescato) genera anche comportamenti nelle specie marine residenti che magari difficilmente si verificherebbero in natura. Mi è stato quindi facile fotografare Polpi intenti a procurarsi il cibo rubandolo direttamente nelle reti oppure seppie attaccare pesci (già morti) di stazza superiore alle loro dimensioni. Non sono certo che tutto questo pesce morto trovato sul fondo sia stato gettato intenzionalmente oppure sia caduto il fatto è che nelle vicinanze delle reti ce n'era una grande quantità.
