Parlando della Santa: qui nacque il 28 marzo del 1515, in una numerosa famiglia, originaria di Toledo e di stirpe ebrea. Nel capoluogo della Castiglia-Leon, Teresa Ahumada visse l'infanzia, la gioventù e la maturità, gli anni della conversione, dell'entusiasmo e dei progetti: un personaggio con un travagliato percorso interiore, scrittrice e riformatrice delle monache e dei frati Carmelitani Sclazi, fondatrice di vari monasteri, viaggiatrice istancabile. Una figura moderna in un periodo fiorente per la sua città, una sorta di Rinascimento. ?vila, di origini romane, poi un mix di culture araba, ebrea e castigliana, in quegli anni del Cinquecento visse la massima fioritura con la costruzioni di nuovi palazzi, l'ammodernamento rinascimentale delle chiese e la creazione di conventi. Fu una rinascita economica e sociale e in quest'atmosfera Teresa lasciò la sua impronta. La casa vera e proprio è oggi un museo, con la stanza dove la Santa venne al mondo, una cappella, molte relique e ricordi, un piccolo giardino.
