A pochi chilometri dal Capoluogo, nel Comune di Castel d'Aiano, vi è un fenomeno carsico che, dal punto di vista strettamente scientifico, deve essere considerato ancora più importante dei "Gessi Bolognesi", non fosse altro ce per la sua rarità. Si tratta della più grande grotta primaria nei travertini d'Italia e forse una delle più grandi del mondo: la Grotta di Labante.
