Leopard in South Luangwa sent on April 26, 2012 (10:00) by Marinaio. 189 comments, 67669 views.  [editors pick]

at 140mm, 1/200 f/2.8, ISO 1250, hand held. South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. Specie: Panthera pardus

I think this picture is the most beautiful (of course after my shark-D) to be featured on this forum ..
X dynamism, plasticity, composition, and three-dimensionality this photo is the ultimate expression of PHOTOGRAPHY ..

With this photograph barriers break down (flash, pp etc. ..) that until now had not shown this site ...

Excuse me if I say that a simple silhouettes Not if it does nothing, if you have a repertoire photos like this ...

A greeting!

I was sure to find the right replica ..... :-)

I must say that the 'experience that I have is very different: the leoprdo shelling the western blows, growls and then falls from the plant in a gallop after it was hit by flash may be a witness.
If my job was to guide and accompany perhaps during a night safari, perhaps I should say the same thing ...
As I weighed the researchers also an association that had projects for the protection of biodiversity in Tanzania and with whom I collaborated.

My aversion has not always been the flash and was acquired in the field, I will be a Taliban but is something that just can not digest.
And I say this to those veins always with me is the price you pay ... :-D
He understood what he had to suffer the poor Mickey!! Close to the leopard in low light and to take with us a long time and iso high .... :-P
Forò warning before .......................

I do not like with people during the reportage, but in this case it is only one factor purely aesthetic approach and while I understand that, in the nude photos, where you are the master, not whether it can almost do without it.

PS obviously not sno Roberto d 'accord with you ...... ;-)

Sailor, I make so many compliments on the photos. I was looking forward to your shots, even more than those of Juza, given the different areas in which work normally.

The impact and power of your shot graphics are impressive.

I find it very interesting exchange of views with Memy (of which, instinctively, I support the thesis). However, the terrain is tricky and I have neither the knowledge nor the experience to take sides openly.

I can not wait to see the rest!

Guys discussion of the flash is most interesting that, by this I mean my about it! I too would be inclined to think that an animal flashiato may feel disturbed by artificial light that is fired on him, but after this experience, the first of its kind for which the only one I can rely on, I saw that the animals there were appropriate in the light that was shot! So break an arrow in favor of a sailor! It remains only my personal taste that I prefer a silhouette because I find most natural and that is what the eye sees! There is still a great picture and renewal compliment Gian Luca!

Hello, Sailor
Quoto Memy, with which I agree on the use of flash which is annoying animals, (x experience), so the Taliban are two of us. :-D:-D

A photo exceptional composition, time and technique.
A photo very "aesthetics", if I pass the word. As we do not see or almost never ... ever .... in the field of wildlife.
Using the flash does not express myself.
I trust the experience of Memy acquired dozens of safari, but I also remember the post opened specifically Sailor (who then tried to find out first, and rightly so) that also strong consensus of the guide, if you took was convinced not to cause damage to the animal.

I state that not knowing anything at all about anything (external flash even have and what was built after 12,000 shots I've still never used):-D I just noticed that perhaps, in this particular case, the flash does not disturbed as it used from a distance and not in front all'amimale. is a pure and simple observation ;-)

having said that ... the picture for me is stratospheric. is not that a hole in the screen, it just breaks.

I had the honor to see it in preview, is a picture of which I can not even move a note, simply spectacular, an absolute masterpiece.
Similar photos have been seen out only by well-known, famous naturalists, in newspapers such as NG (which just to say eh ... the flash use it ..).
The contrasts of colors, exposure, location of the leopard, the lines ... are simply impeccable!
Absolutely one of the best shots ever seen on this forum, and more.

It is no coincidence this picture is hanging in my room really big, and considering the lack of availability of space, this should give an idea of ??how this shot are absolutely spectacular (of course I have a soft spot for cats ..).

Once again Sailor surprised me with shots from the technical perfection and composition, and last but not least very emotional, a moment of real life animal.

Bato setting shooting and 'was to put the car in manual mode with ISO high enough to record detail in the background and use the flash in E-TTL. I made a couple of shots to see the effect, and then I made up for the flash to +1 with respect to the value read by the E-TTL.

Guys always without controversy but 'I would like to briefly analyze the situation, even though I'd rather do it on the topic open for this purpose.
During the safari when a specimen like this is spotted arriving on the set of a jeep carrying a certain number of people on each. We arrive raising a fuss with the noise of the engines and the smell of access flue gas vehicles propio Euro 4.
We are confident that bother them is a great little light emitted from a few centimeters 15 feet away?
Consider also that to have a flash light can illuminate the subject I used ISO 1250
Compared with the experience of others but 'on this animal I used the flash for about 15 minutes before while he was stationed on the branch and then on the way down. He never did even a nodnote the lightning, and the same thing 'happened with all the other animals, lions, elephants, civet, genet, owls etc.

Memy always without controversy indeed appreciate your comment and I can assure you that Stephen Pesarelli 'attentive to the environment we visit paying attention to our behavior and in fact he also asked for clarification on the night birds and had no problem with the cat on which he had never found anomalous behavior. Consider that Stephen lives in Africa from 7 years and that 'in safari today and for more' than 100 days a year, and his experience and certainly more 'wide and that of my local guide in this park during the period and 'was very careful in how we act. If they noticed the slightest disturbance in any animal I would be stopped without delay and instead it 's never happened.

Absolutely respect the point of view of those who think differently, and I hope that if you like we can discuss your experiences in the topic dedicated to this topic.

I never thought to possess the absolute truth .... that respect all opinions but then, when I am sure as time, stay on my position ....
and will continue to bother all those who would come to safari with me ...

It 's true that cars break bales! but they are a sine qua non ...... and without the cars of tourists, 90% of African animals and not only there would be! and I have for the lesser evil.

I close with this because I do not want to pollute the topic

Speeches seems similar to what `s is read in the comments to a Master pictures of` good Luzzini, and here personally I find it hard to believe that the flash has not caused any trouble ...

... Unlike the lighthouse (continuous light) at the time that allowed me to admire the leopard at night but that probably bothered him in the vision, as it was also on the hunt.

Entries difference ... and leave off the track, paying for certain "allowed" to advance the off-road in the bush bearing probable damage to a number of other creatures.

Memy Hello, thank you for letting us know about the topic.
I can say that I personally do not like the flash on safari, but the passion of Gianluca know it!;-P
For those who do not know me ... okay, I am the wife of Pesarelli :-)

It is necessary to distinguish in my opinion a bit 'the distance that is "shot", how many times, in which parks are.
There are parks where some species of animals show themselves more confident.

I agree with Memy that there must be a respect for the animal even of animals and nature, and a knowledge of the behavior of the same BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the shot and the safari (without machines pictures!). Forever. Not only of the animal, but also of the environment.
The flash is a thorny issue that I think, however, has room for use by following this respect.

This leopard is a leopard was quiet and I know and see often because it is very confident. Strange thing for leopards, gs early, but things happen in this park that surprising. We waited a good hour in light alone proporio positioning ourselves in the best position, never off track. Indeed, stepping back slightly to get it, hoping to come down, in silohuette at sunset. I expected her comportamemnto requiring all my idea backwards. (It was not easy with 5 men!) So I took the picture I wanted and I was looking for years, I promise shortly on my profile, other than that Gianluca is very original. The leopard as I had expected began the descent, but consider that the scene is a very short duration, it was dusk and at one point only the branch was free of foliage. At that moment came the photos of Gianluca.

Memy, I really appreciate your spirit (and photos!).

Greetings to all from its South Luangwa, a wonderful light along the river very nearly the insert for you. See you soon!

Forgive me ... but all this mess for a side flash? instead of bowing in front of one of the most beautiful pictures around?

Well that will not follow all the post and what goes around, but do not feel like threads of macro photos ... and there are eh .... but because, for an insect, a butterfly, a frog or lizard a flash shot does not bother you? Count for less?
And I will shoot him in the eye eh ...
