Anno Domini 790 d.C In località San Giorgio Basso, ai confini tra Montichiari e Carpenedolo (BS), in epoca medievale, prosperava un centro monastico retto dai Canonici regolari agostiniani. Nel 790 d.C., nel periodo di transizione tra il dominio dei Longobardi e dei Franchi, un certo frate Odosino fu espulso dall'ordine per non ben precisati reati. Per vendetta, il monaco in questione, raccolse più di diecimila seguaci e, spinto dall'odio, lanciò il suo «esercito» contro il monastero di San Giorgio. Conquistato lo stabile, catturò più di duemila prigionieri che, dopo aver fatto legare, buttò vivi nelle fiamme. Odolino e i suoi mantennero il possesso di San Giorgio e furono solo successivamente sconfitti dai Franchi. Molti passanti, che si sono trovati a transitare lungo il meraviglioso viale di tigli, raccontano di aver sentito cigolii e lamenti provenire dai ruderi di quello che viene definito "Castello di San Giorgio"?.. Sarà solo il vento che soffia tra le mura vetuste del maniero o è il grido d'aiuto delle anime che vagano ancora in cerca di pace??
