La Basilica di San Salvatore, fondata da Papa Innocenzo IV (Sinibaldo Fieschi), fu distrutta dall'imperatore Federico II nel 1245. Pochi anni più tardi il Pontefice ordinava di riedificarla e fu compiuta nel 1252 da suo nipote Cardinale Ottobono Fieschi (in seguito eletto Papa Adriano V). Di stile romanico di transizione, le mura sono in blocchi di pietra scabra e grigia di Lavagna, intersecata verso l'alto da strisce di candido marmo. #Tramonto#Borghi
