Il quartiere Bicocca di Milano fino agli anni 80 era occupato per la gran parte dalla Pirelli. In seguito alla delocalizzazione della produzione (qui la Pirelli ha mantenuto la sede Centrale), il quartiere ha subito una profonda trasformazione con la realizzazione di un grande complesso residenziale, con la nascita di un nuovo importante Polo Universitario, e con il Teatro degli Arcimboldi.
