con l'Ostensione della Sindone Torino ricorda anche i duecento anni della nascita di San Giovanni Bosco. Il santuario di Maria Ausiliatrice è una basilica cattolica della città di Torino. Inaugurato il 9 giugno 1868, il santuario fu voluto da san Giovanni Bosco. Fu eretto dall'ingegnere Antonio Spezia e da lui fu dedicato a Maria, invocata come Ausiliatrice. Il 28 giugno 1911 fu elevata alla dignità di basilica minore. Sorge nel quartiere di Valdocco e, intorno a questo santuario, proliferano le attività gestite dai salesiani prettamente dedicate ai giovani, quali scuole e oratori. La chiesa ha una pianta a croce latina ed ha una decorazione a marmi policromi voluta dal beato Michele Rua, primo successore di Don Bosco. Sopra il tabernacolo c' è il grande affresco che rappresenta Maria ausiliatrice, dipinto voluto da san Giovanni Bosco, opera di Tommaso Lorenzone, mentre l'affresco della cupola è di Giuseppe Rollini. I quattro altari che affiancano la basilica contengono le spoglie di quattro personaggi chiave del culto salesiano: una è dedicata a Don Bosco, opera di Mario Ceradini, una è dedicata a san Domenico Savio, una è dedicata a santa Maria Mazzarello e una è dedicata al sacro Cuore, che ospita un quadro di Carlo Morgari e le spoglie di Michele Rua. A destra della navata centrale una scala conduce alla cripta, dove è conservata la reliquia del legno della santa Croce.
