Nonostante il suo nome significhi "Porto nuovo" Nyhavn è l'antico porto di Copenaghen. Oggi si trova al centro della città ed è uno dei punti più affascinanti e di maggiore interesse per il turismo. Da sempre rifugio di marinai e scrittori, compreso H. C. Andersen che qui abitò per circa venti anni, Nyhavn è un luogo carico di atmosfera invitante con le coloratissime case in stile danese che si affacciano sulle sue rive, gli edifici sei - settecenteschi che ospitano taverne e locali di ritrovo e le vecchie e caratteristiche barche in legno che costeggiano le sue sponde.
