La Giraffa di Thornicroft (Giraffa Camelopardalis Thornicrofti) vive unicamente nella Luangwa Valley. La popolazione stimata è di circa 1.500 esemplari e presenta la caratteristica di avere le macchie a forma di foglia che si estendono sino alle ginocchia. La specie deve il suo nome a Harry Scott Thornicroft, Commissario per la British South Africa Company alla fine dell'800 che, dopo aver notato la differenza del manto di questa giraffa, ne fece analizzare alcuni campioni al British Museum che confermò l'unicità della specie. #wild #safari
