Di dimensioni più grosse rispetto ai cugini afro-asiatici ha la pelliccia più folta per proteggerlo dai grandi freddi. Proprio per la sua pelliccia pregiatissima e' stato cacciato sin quasi all'estinzione, ne rimangono davvero pochi esemplari e tutti estremamente solitari ed elusivi. Ci sono scienziati e naturalsiti che ci mettono degli anni per vederlo. Ottimo documento e foto rarissima.
Size larger than the Afro-Asian cousins ??have the thickest fur to protect them from severe cold. Because of its fur and precious' was hunted nearly to extinction, there remain very few specimens and all extremely solitary and elusive. There are scientists and naturalsiti that put us years to see it. Excellent document and rare photos. Questa foto meriterebbe l'editor's pick. E spero che lo prenda. Tecnicamente non è perfetta, purtroppo visti i limiti della situazione non sei riuscito a dare la tua impronta artistica all'immagine, ma non importa.
Ci sono ~6000 esemplari di questo esemplare nel mondo, l'ho visto la prima volta sulla BBC nella serie Planet Earth (Mountains) e anche per una troupe di professionisti è stato molto difficile riprenderlo.
È veramente un regalo a tutto il forum aver condiviso questo scatto, grazie.

Grazie veramente a tutti! Sicuramente l'aspetto più duro della situazione è dormire sei notti in tenda a -10° C.
In quei giorni ho incrociato la troupe della BBC che stava facendo le riprese per One Planet, prossima serie in uscita nel 2016. In tre settimane hanno avuto solo sette avvistamenti.
La mia guida mi diceva che l'anno prima, nello stesso periodo, Art Wolfe è stato nell'Hemis National Park ma era riuscito a vedere solo una volta, di sfuggita, il leopardo delle nevi e che si è amareggiato di non aver portato a casa gli scatti sperati. E' proprio un gatto sfuggente...

Rinnovo i complimenti per l'avvistamento, d'altronde sono stato il primo a commentare...ma quando mai si pensava che fosse estinto.....raro da vedere si, in diminuzione si, oggetto di bracconaggio si , e commercio illegale di pelli, estinto proprio no, e neanche quasi....per fortuna!
