Maggiore il numero delle armi del primo Cinquecento sia di scuola italiana che di scuola tedesca. Tra i pezzi più belli della prima metà del Cinquecento sono le parti di corsaletto all'antica proveniente da casa Martinengo attribuite a Filippo e Francesco Negroli, il corsaletto all'antica del conte Girolamo Martinengo di scuola bresciana e la brigantina del conte di Challant in lamelle di acciaio rivestite di velluto rosso. Eccezionale il gruppo delle armature di scuola tedesca, in particolare l'armatura doppia appartenuta a Wilhelm von Boxberg di Norimberga opera di Kolman Helmshmid di Augsburg, e un gruppo di opere uscite dalla bottega di Anton Peffenhauser e Jorg Sorg il Giovane di Augsburg, come i resti di guarnitura appartenuta a Don Alba di Beaumont del 1550 e i resti di armatura appartenuta a Stefano Doria del 1551. Della bottega di Desiderius Helmschmid e Jorg Sorg il Giovane sono i resti di un'armatura a cavallo appartenuto a don Alfonso di Bustos y Bustos.
