Timidamente ho provato anche io nel mio piccolo a riprendere qualche fulmine e qualche tempesta, una volta ho fatto lo spavaldo di troppo e un fulmine si è scaricato su una sedia di metallo sulla quale stavo seduto un minuto prima mentre stavo riprendendo una impressionante sequenza di saette che cadevano in mare e sulla spiaggia di Camporosso (IM), bhè... il campo magnetico mi ha strappato i capelli lasciandomi una piccola ustione da UV al cuoio capelluto ... anche la piccola compatta che stavo adoperando ha sofferto, la foto si è registrata sì nella SD, ma nel frame ci sono rimaste delle evidenti righe nere dovute alla forte intensità del campo magnetico.... vedere poi scorrere questa scarica elettrica lungo un lungo recinto di griglia metallica non ha eguali, si rimane letteralmente impietriti incapaci di reagire, affascinati in una atmosfera surreale con l'adrenalina alle stelle. Una damanda: qualche volta hai usato un trigger per la ripresa dei fulmini? Guarda, in anni che inseguo e fotografo temporali e tornado spesso le persone mi hanno domandato se non avessi paura all'idea di avvicinarmi a un tornado...paura di un tornado? semmai timore dei fulmini! Un tornado è generalmente più prevedibile (a parte rare eccezioni), un fulmine no. Certo, ci sono zone dei temporali dove le scariche sono molto più probabili (ad esempio la zona a stretto contatto tra pioggia e base libera dalle precipitazioni...mai fare foto ai fulmini quando iniziano a cadere le prime sparute goccioline...), però la realtà è che un fulmine può scaricarsi potenzialmente ovunque, persino a 20-30 km da un temporale! (quelli che poi molti chiamano fulmini a ciel sereno...in realtà non esistono fulmini a ciel sereno, si tratta invece di fulmini nube-terra con carica positiva, estremamente più "potenti" dei parenti negativi che si scaricano sotto il temporale.)
Anche io mi sono trovata diverse volte in situazioni poco piacevoli con i fulmini, l'ultima questa estate: ero ferma alle 4 di notte in un campo sul bordo posteriore del temporale, quindi era tutto bagnato, il terreno ricoperto anche da 3-4cm d'acqua. Siccome ormai il numero di fulmini era drasticamente ridotto ed ero stanca, avevo deciso di salire in auto per valutare se restare ancora un pò per eventuali evoluzioni della situazione o iniziare a rincasare. Dopo 5 minuti, un nube-terra positivo si scarica a circa 500mt da me e nonostante io fossi in auto con tutto chiuso, ho sentito un vago formicolio ai piedi. Se fossi stata fuori dall'auto probabilmente ora non sarei qui!
Per rispondere alla tua domanda: il trigger l'ho usato qualche volta nel 2012, qui su Juza ho messo solo uno scatto in cui avevo il trigger. Poi siccome l'ingresso era specifico per la Nikon D90, quando sono passata a Canon ho lasciato perdere perchè non avevo voglia di ricomprarne uno nuovo  .
