Il Museo di Antichità di Torino è una delle più antiche istituzioni museali europee. È il Museo Archeologico Nazionale del Piemonte. Nata nel Cinquecento come raccolta dinastica dei duchi di Savoia, la collezione di antichità fa parte dal 1724 del Regio Museo dell'Università, donata all'ateneo torinese da Vittorio Amedeo II, Re di Sardegna. Nel 1824 l'arrivo della collezione egizia di Bernardino Drovetti determina nel 1832 il trasferimento al Palazzo dell'Accademia delle Scienze con la nuova denominazione di Museo di antichità ed egizie. Dopo la separazione, nel 1940, dal Museo Egizio, tuttora nella sede originaria, le collezioni archeologiche hanno trovato nel 1989 sistemazione nelle Orangeries di Palazzo Reale. Un nuovo padiglione parzialmente ipogeo, inaugurato nel 1998, ospita i reperti archeologici provenienti da scavi condotti sul territorio piemontese e collega le Orangeries alle sale sotterranee della Manica Nuova di Palazzo Reale sede dell'esposizione Archeologia a Torino e all'area archeologica del Teatro romano. L'entrata del museo è la stessa della Galleria Sabauda
