Ed ecco uno dei momenti sicuramente più emozionanti di tutti i miei viaggi; nel mio ultimo giro dell'isola, ho deciso di dedicarmi esclusivamente all'aurora, sacrificando albe e tramonti se necessario, da vero "Aurora Hunter"! Il primo giorno ritiro la mia Polo a Reykjavik e, fidandomi delle previsioni che davano cielo pulito nella zona di Akureyri (e quindi Godafoss) decido di segnare subito quasi 500km per incignare la macchina! Arrivato su già a buio, trovo una cascata senza (quasi) neve, mentre nei due viaggi precedenti avevo trovato sempre neve e strade molto più brutte! In effetti poi mi hanno detto che è stato il novembre più caldo degli ultimi 70 anni in Islanda.. Non so se è un bene o un male! Insomma dopo le prime ore di buio in cui il cielo era coperto iniziano i primi bagliori; è tutto un avanti indietro da una parte all'altra della cascata per cercare di aver il miglior angolo di ripresa. Verso mezzanotte (già con i miei scatti fatti), ritorno alla macchina e inizio a coricarmi con calma, mi lavo i denti ecc. Mentre mi pulivo gli scarponcelli, alzo un attimo gli occhi al cielo e meraviglia delle meraviglie, un serpente grosso quanto la volta celeste si sta muovendo molto velocemente sopra di me, a ritmo di una musica che noi umani non potremo mai conoscere. In fretta e furia riparto e dopo 10 minuti (per fortuna, non avevo nessuna certezza) l'aurora era sempre li, che come una seducente "spogliarellista" si stava concedendo solo al sottoscritto, in quanto ero l'unico fortunato bischero li a prender un po' di freddo. Ed ecco come nasce questo scatto!
