Tra le strade labirintiche della Medina di Marrakech ci sono circa 20 souq dove passeggiare e osservare le numerose merci in vendita, dai tappeti berberi ai cappelli di lana, dalle spezie ai cesti, passando per molti oggetti dell'artigianato locale. Appena si entra nella Medina si è bombardati di odori e colori inebrianti. Passeggiare al suo interno è un vero spettacolo, le strade sono troppe strette per lasciar passare delle macchine e gli unici mezzi di trasporto sono quindi l'asino, il motorino o le gambe. Nonostante la gran quantità di turisti che arrivano a Marrakech, la città non ha perso la sua personalità e la sua vita quotidiana procede normalmente. Per via della gran quantità di strade, stradine strettissime e viuzze, la Medina può essere un luogo fantastico dove perdersi e farsi trasportare dalla folla, oppure un luogo da cui scappare.
