Maybe it was a little (1/3 max 1/2 stop) underexposed, why did you have difficulty 'to recover the shadows. To me the 5D after I took several years ago with the 7D I do not see practically noise, use any ISO, hello and congratulations for the beautifull photos

Roby, just a great, expressive capture!!! Detail and lighting are superb. Great plumage display and with lots of attitude. Truly a dramatic and striking image with real depth and presence. I really like it. Thanks for sharing. Wally

Well done. Very beautiful and meaningful.
I had never been able to observe so well certain details of the Osprey.
Now I understand why when you catch a fish that is difficult to escape from the claws!

:-P thanks to all ...
I say to Mark for the under exposure, the photo is not made certain dawn, sunrise fishing, but also because after a few hours of sun, so the light was quite strong with whites and blacks blacks shot is mandatory seek a middle ground so slight under exposure and seek to recover the blacks PP .... and chroma noise in the dark was really bad ... so go heavy reduction in ACR ...
This specimen should be a young man of less than 2 years, surely lives in man-made because it is a fairly rare that the F fis face photograph is so close, usually 50 mtr ago hello hello, on the claws are powerful !! has happened to a dear friend to hear the sound of claws on metal flew off a sign and left him as Wolverine ... in striscewow!
hello roby

Very nice, it's my favorite falcon. Never had a chance to see him up close, even if I had the chance to see some pictures you like and take "close enough" though he was in Italy.
