Presenti più che altro nell'entroterra, questi simpatici avvoltoi possono essere presenti anche in gran numero, ed a volte possono risultare anche fastidiosi. In alcuni centri visita i guardaparco forniscono teli protettivi per le auto, infatti, curiosi per indole, sono attratti dai riflessi metallizzati delle carrozzeria delle automobili, che possono facilmente ammaccare con il robusto becco. Per non parlare poi della possibilità di ritrovare l'auto piena di escrementi se parcheggiata sotto l'albero sbagliato..
