Il varano, lungo circa 1,5 metri, ha pescato il pesce in uno stagno con un rapidissimo movimento del collo, agguantando uno degli esemplari di maggiori dimensioni. Si è poi allontanato per inghiottire il pesce in tranquillità, lontano dagli altri varani presenti in loco. Il pesce è stato inghiottito ancora vivo, a partire dalla testa, evitando così di ferirsi con le squame o le spine caudali.
