Gli manca la prima zampa sinistra, ma a parte questo è intatto. E' un grosso coleottero ma non è facile avvistarlo.
L'anno scorso nei boschi della mia zona ci fu un'infestazione di Lymantria dispar, la cui larva è una delle sue prede preferite. Girai ore per i boschi prima di fotografarne uno solo.

Ieri ho anche trovato un'elitrea durante una passeggiata in montagna. Con i suoi colori iridescenti risaltava sul sentiero come un gioiello. D'altra parte è questo il periodo in cui sono maggiormente attivi (stando a quanto ho letto).
